About the role
Are you confident building relationships, solving problems and working with different professionals? Would you like to use those skills in a commercial role where your success helps children and young people access the education they need?
The Catchup Academy is a fast-growing tuition and alternative provision provider supporting local authorities, schools and families. We arrange bespoke education for learners with SEND, medical needs, attendance difficulties and other barriers to mainstream education.
You will manage a mix of existing accounts and new business, build relationships with commissioners and schools, and turn referrals into well-supported tuition placements. This is a target-driven role combining business development with hands-on account management: growing your portfolio while maintaining the quality and safeguarding standards our clients expect.
You don't need a sales background
Education or alternative provision experience is valuable, but we also welcome professionals from social work, casework, commissioning, policing and other public services who bring strong stakeholder skills, safeguarding awareness and the motivation to learn the commercial side. Training and support will be provided.
What you will do
✓
Build and grow relationships with local authority commissioners, caseworkers, Virtual Schools and school leaders, acting as the main contact for your allocated accounts.
✓
Develop new business through proactive calls, emails, meetings and follow-up, identifying suitable tuition and alternative provision opportunities.
✓
Manage incoming referrals, understand learner needs and recommend appropriate provision. Convert suitable enquiries into active placements.
✓
Coordinate the placement journey from enquiry and agreed funding through tutor matching, delivery, review and extension or closure.
✓
Match tutors to learner needs, skills, location and availability, working with recruitment and compliance colleagues to ensure required checks and onboarding are completed before delivery.
✓
Maintain accurate placement, pricing, funding authorisation and billing records. Monitor weekly billing and agreed performance targets, resolving discrepancies with finance.
✓
Keep tutors, clients and relevant stakeholders informed, resolve service issues promptly and support strong relationships and retention.
✓
Use Salesforce and Tutexa to maintain clear records, track opportunities and monitor attendance, feedback and progress. Escalate concerns through the appropriate routes.
Delivering quality alongside growth
✓
Work with education, quality assurance and safeguarding colleagues to ensure provision is suitable and meets CUA and commissioner requirements.
✓
Prepare for and attend relevant LA and school review or quality assurance meetings, drawing on specialist colleagues when needed.
✓
Recognise and report safeguarding concerns promptly in line with policy; safeguarding decisions and specialist advice sit with the designated leads.
✓
Provide clear pipeline, revenue and account updates to management, and contribute information to framework and tender activity where required.
What you bring
✓
Experience building relationships with multiple stakeholders, managing cases or accounts, or coordinating services with competing priorities.
✓
Knowledge of education, SEND or alternative provision, or relevant public-service experience with safeguarding awareness and a willingness to learn.
✓
Confidence speaking with commissioners, school leaders, tutors and families, and handling sensitive conversations professionally.
✓
Commercial drive: you are comfortable making proactive contact, following up opportunities, working towards targets and being accountable for results.
✓
Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage referrals, schedules and accurate records.
✓
Clear written communication, digital confidence and the ability to work with figures, pricing and performance information.
✓
A practical, resilient and collaborative approach, with genuine interest in educational outcomes.
Previous sales, recruitment or account-growth experience is welcome, but not essential. We will help you develop the business development skills needed to succeed. Experience with LA contracts, Virtual Schools, EHCPs or tuition placements would be an advantage.
